County Prep Students Heading To London

(Jersey City - April 11, 2008) County Prep students anticipate a rewarding educational experience and the opportunity to develop cultural awareness and the sense of themselves as global citizens during their upcoming tour of London.

The trip is being organized by Art Instructor, Charlene Kahse and Math instructor, Jerry Kahse. This is their seventh international trip, and the first to England, but the first time they are traveling together with The Jersey City Arts High School program. To prepare, students had to choose 2 items from a long list of British themed Movies, Books, Plays, TV Shows, Music and Artists. They were asked to see or read them and write a paragraph response to each.

The main focus of the week long trip to London is Art, Theater and History. Tour highlights will include visits to parts of England, including Salisbury Cathedral (Magna Carta), in Salisbury, England, Stonehenge, in Wiltshire England, and Stratford-Upon-Avon (Shakespeare's Birthplace and RSC Performance of The Merchant of Venice), which is a small town in Warwickshire county, England.

In London proper, they will visit the National Gallery, and take a backstage tour of the Royal Drury Lane Theater. They will also visit Hyde Park, Tate Britain, Covent Garden, and have a workshop at Shakespeare's Globe Theater Museum, Additional tour highlights include St. Paul's Cathedral (Whispering Gallery), Tate Modern, Westminster Abbey (Royal Chapels & Poets Corner), British Museum, Carnaby & Regent Streets, and a Thames River Cruise. Finally, they will enjoy a theatrical production of: The Mouse Trap and a backstage tour of The Lord of the Rings
