County Prep 2008 Teacher of the Year

(Jersey City - May 23, 2008) The Teacher Recognition Panel of County Prep High School nominated Caroline Ulivella for Teacher of the Year. Ms. Ulivella is an eleven year veteran of the English Department and has been a truly dedicated instructor throughout the years.

Ms. Ulivella earned her bachelor's degree in English from Rutgers University, and her Master's degree in Educational Technology from New Jersey City University.

The panel said of Ms. Ulivella that she has a reputation for embracing new ideas and of being "forward thinking in relation to her instructional practices." They further state that she encourages her students to succeed "through creating an environment that is both motivating and engaging." In addition, Ms. Ulivella is described as developing a rapport with her students "that enables an atmosphere founded upon mutual respect, humor and discipline," and she provides a "stable environment in which she encourages students to take pride in their work."

In addition the panel notes that Ms. Ulivella has learned over the years, that "sensitivity and understanding combined with a dedication to teaching and professional growth are essential to the development of vibrant learning community." The panel applauds her for being an "asset to our program at CPHS."
