County Prep Students Win Gold

County Prep students competed in the NJ SkillsUSA Championships, placing first in three technology career contests. The annual competition of students enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled and service occupations took place May 8th and 9th at the Garden State Exhibit Center in Somerset, NJ.

Four County Prep students won gold medals as the best high school students in their field in New Jersey. Senior Cerille Avetria is NJ champion in Digital Photography; senior Michael Marin is state champion in Internetworking; and the state champion team for Website Design is senior Gerard O'Neill and junior Katrina Librojo.

The New Jersey SkillsUSA Championships showcased the spectacular display of career and technical students of our state in action. Held annually at the Garden State Exhibit Center, nearly 2000 students, vocational educators and industry volunteers participated. The philosophy of the championships is to reward students for excellence, to involve industry in directly evaluating student performance, and to keep training relevant to employers' needs.

SkillsUSA is a national organization serving high school and college students and professional members enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled, and service occupations, including health occupations in high schools and college/technical schools.

Ms. Mendolla and all of the staff and students at County Prep would like to commend all the participants for their competitive spirit and wonderful accomplishments.
