(Busch Gardens, VA - April 2009) County Prep students enrolled in the Jersey City Arts High School at New Jersey City University (VPA) participated in the Music In The Parks Competition at Busch Gardens, Virginia. The competition took place April 23rd through April 26th and the award ceremony was held on April 25th. Twelve high school bands and five middle school bands competed in two categories.

Performing with 25 other Jersey City high school student band members, 4 County Prep students competed: Seniors Shawn McCauley on trombone and Sarah Johnson on flute, junior Kimberly Herrera on piccolo, and freshman Carlos Torres on trumpet. The VPA Concert Band received 1st Place Superior Awards in the High School Concert Band Category A and the Overall High School Concert Band Category.
