Hudson County Juvenile Detention Center Program
Here at the HCST's Hudson County Juvenile Detention Center (HCJDC), students receive an alternative education based on the N.J. Core Curriculum Content Standards. This aids our students in reaching their educational goals. The average stay at our facility is 2 to 3, weeks with the age range between 13 and 18 years. Students come to this facility from the Hudson County area.
It is our mission to provide an educationally supportive environment, which will assist our students in transitioning into continuing instructional and employment opportunities. We offer a progressive school with professionally-trained staff working cooperatively in an energetic environment, using innovative technology, resulting in student academic levels that are competitive in today's careers. In keeping up with technology, HCST at the HCJDC utilizes wireless computers. Students are able to work with three programs, covering Math, History and Language Arts.
Students are also required to take the HSPA and GEPA exams. HSPA is administered twice a year, while the GEPA is given once a year. Students, if they are eligible, have a chance to graduate from our programs. In the past, we have had one high school graduation and two middle school graduation
