HIGH TECH’S AKASH SHAH NAMED FINALIST IN 2007 COMPETITION FOR MERIT SCHOLARSHIP® AWARDS

(Evanston, IL—February 6, 2007) North Bergen resident Akash Shah, a senior at High Tech High School, has been named a Finalist in the 2007 Merit Scholarship® Awards, announced Principal Karol Brancato.
The National Merit® Scholarship Program determined that Shah met or exceeded the academic accomplishments that make him eligible to advance as a finalist from a list of 16,000 semifinalists announced last September. Now he will vie for the Merit Scholarship awards, having received the Certificate of Merit that authorizes his entry into the final stage of the competition.
Shah, one of 15,000 Finalists selected to move on in the competition, hopes to join the roughly 8,200 other students who will earn Merit Scholarships this year. In March, the National Merit® Scholarship Committee will begin mailing scholarship offers to the winners.
