Doug MacAulay, in his sixth year of teaching TV production and social studies, has been named Teacher of the Year for KAS Prep H.S.
Administrators selected MacAulay for creating a respectful classroom atmosphere, building one of the most advanced audio-visual teaching facilities in New Jersey, and working cooperatively with colleagues. The administration described him as dedicated, loyal and supportive of students.
Dr. James Doran, principal of KAS Prep, said Mr. MacAulay was selected for his enthusiasm and creativity. “Doug is a model teacher,” Dr. Doran said. “He challenges his students to succeed by developing their strengths and talents.”
MacAulay teaches History vs. Hollywood, an innovative course that compares feature films with written historical sources. He also teaches drama, animation and screenwriting, splitting his time with High Tech H.S. He also advises and produces the annual KAS Prep video yearbook and co-produces the “Digital Video” show, which highlights student productions every spring.
