HIGH TECH STUDENTS EXCELL AT THE 2007 HUDSON COUNTY SCIENCE FAIR

(Jersey City—March 23, 2007) High Tech seniors Annie Rose London of Hoboken, North Bergen’s Neel Shah, and Brendan McKeon of Kearny proved standouts at the 48th Annual Hudson County Science Fair, announced Principal Karol Brancato.

London won the Gold Medal and the Betty Foley Memorial Award for presentation excellence in Molecular and Cellular Biology.  In addition to these honors, she will travel to the National Science Fair in Huntsville, Alabama due to her success at the Rutgers Junior Science and Humanities Symposia. 

Shah, who competed in the Behavioral Science category, earned the Silver Medal.  For his efforts in the category of Chemistry, McKeon secured the Bronze Medal.

Since 1959, the Hudson County Science Fair has been The Jersey Journal’s vehicle for furthering the scientific minds of Hudson County students.  Participation has often served as a precursor to impressive accomplishments in science.  As many as 600 students from Hudson County middle and high schools compete in challenging categories ranging from Behavioral Science to Gerontology.  Apart from personal fulfillment, students compete for a chance to win scholarships, prizes, medals and other awards. Two extraordinary finalists move along to compete in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.
