Carrying on the tradition of greatness, High Tech's Girls Softball has made local news again, as three players and the team's coach have made the 2008 Hudson Reporter All-Area Softball Team, announced Principal Karol Brancato.
Pitching sensation Erica Colon, a resident of Jersey City, earned the nod as Pitcher of the Year for the second year in a row and this year's Most Valuable Player after leading the Lasercats to the HCIAA Seglio Division crown and the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2 Group I title, as well as a trip to Toms River for the overall Group I state title against Pennsville.
The Hudson Reporter also named outfielder Justine Mateo of Jersey City for the third straight year (twice for High Tech and once as a Hoboken athlete) and infielder Monique Colon of Hoboken to the 2008 Hudson Reporter All-Area Softball Team.
Lasercats coach Ravon Anderson also received Coach of the Year honors, his second since 2005, when he led Hoboken to its first-ever HCIAA Seglio Division championship. A former Hoboken High School football All-American, Anderson earned the honor after leading High Tech to 26 wins, the Lasercat's most successful season ever.
