(North Bergen—June 25, 2009) Tonight, the High Tech Class of 2009 will hold its graduation at the Arthur F. Couch Performing Arts Center at Secaucus High School, announced Principal Karol Brancato.

The Class of 2009—146 graduates this year—receives its high school diplomas from Frank Gargiulo, the Superintendent of Hudson County School of Technology, and Principal Brancato, who will retire this year.

As usual, High Tech remains one of the premier secondary schools in New Jersey and one of the most successful high schools in the nation. 97% of the graduates will move on to a four-year college or university and 25% of them will attend prestigious, highly competitive schools. Among the graduates, eleven have been named Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholars, two have earned gold and silver medals at the Hudson County Science Fair, one student won the Cappy for the Best Leading Actress in a Musical Award, another one earned the PSE&G Green Scholarship, and one more received a Project SEED scholarship.

During the 2008-’09 sports season, the Lasercats finished their softball season at 15-2, made the All-County Team, and became State District Champs. High Tech’s soccer and bowling teams also made it on All-County lists. That said, the High Tech athletic programs’ .800 winning percentage placed them in the top Group I programs in the state.
