(Manhattan—March 9, 2010) High Tech’s Quiz Bowl aces returned to the television studio to tape two episodes of MSG Varsity’s academic quiz show, The Challenge, announced Dr. Joseph Giammarella, Director of High Tech High School and Academy of Architectural & Contemporary Themes (AACT).

In the two episodes, High Tech challenged the Pingry School, a small, independent, coeducational institute in Martinsville, and later, Parsippany High School. Due to contractual obligations, the results of the High Tech Quiz Bowl team must remain a secret until the programs’ airtimes. The competition between High Tech and Pingry will air on Thursday, March 25th, at 6:30pm. Both programs will air again on May 6th and May 13th.

The Challenge features the best and brightest students in the tri-state area and tests their knowledge of history, the arts and literature, science, and math in four rounds—Multiple Choice, Lightning Round, Free Response, and the Complete 180 Round.

In order to qualify on The Challenge, High Tech had to best county rivals Emerson High School of Union City. Suffice it to say, High Tech did just that. Frank Gargiulo, Superintendent of Hudson County Schools of Technology, Dr. Giammarella, and a bevy of enthusiastic High Tech students also attended the taping of The Challenge.

For the past 12 years, Cablevision, News 12 Networks, and Power to Learn have put the spotlight on local high school academic talent. Hundreds of high schools have participated and thousands of exceptional students have competed.

You can watch The Challenge on MSG Varsity, Sunday through Friday at 6:30pm, on IO Channel 14. The Challenge also can be seen on News 12 and via streaming video at www.powertolearn.com after its episodes’ initial runs on MSG Varsity.
