Computer Assisted Design & Animation I (10 credits)
Computer Assisted Design and Animation I introduces students to the technical language and techniques of CADA. It offers students an opportunity to experience the dynamics of drawing and design. Students will gain an insight into the engineering, architectural and animation professions. Topics include computer software, drawing fundamentals and theory, architectural applications and animation design concepts. Using AutoCAD 2004 students will learn concepts, practices, and computer commands essential to creating computerized mechanical and architectural drawings and 3d models. Students will learn how to use 3d Studio Max 6 to create computerized animations and renderings for a realistic presentation. Hands-on exercises and projects are used to reinforce the learning experience and contribute to the student’s portfolio.
Computer Assisted Design & Animation II (15 credits)
Computer Assisted Design and Animation II is an advanced course concentrating on architectural design reverse engineering and 3D animation. Students will expand their knowledge of AutoCAD’s Architectural desktop and 3D Studio Max 6 through various hands-on assignments and projects. Concepts and theory are introduced through reading and class discussion. Group and individual projects are assigned to meet the student’s particular area of interest. Active participation in Skills USA and various local and national contests is encouraged. Students will continue to develop their portfolios for potential college review.
