The National Museum of the American Indian–New York is located within the historic Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House, which at one time was the source of revenue for New York before taxes. The large pillars and statues outside the building tower over you as you enter.  The large rotunda is filled with paintings of past explorers and ships that have docked in New York City.  Students spent some of their time looking up and hearing the echoes of their voices as they bounced off of the round ceiling.  Three glass doors within the rotunda gave way to the exhibits.
