(New Brunswick, NJ—June 19, 2013) Four Drama majors and a Musical Theater major from High Tech each received scholarships to attend the competitive Rutgers University Summer Acting Conservatory, announced Dr. Joseph Giammarella, Director of High Tech.
Drama majors Sade Ford and Thomas Short of Jersey City, Union City resident Maria Villalobos, and Kearny residents Deborah Osborn and Musical Theater major John Haefner will take part in rigorous training that includes daily classes in acting, movement, and voice/speech. Osborn previously attended this conservatory.
A four-week intensive program, the Rutgers University Summer Acting Conservatory grants high school students the opportunity to experience professional actor training taught by dramaturgical specialists within the context of a university environment.
The conservatory involves Master classes, special seminars, and other activities, with special emphasis on developing fundamental skills to further the students' development as an accomplished performer.
Also, students attend Broadway shows, receive recordings of the final Showcase production, attend cultural field trips, and, generally, soak up the collegiate life for one month.
