Three High Tech Students Recognized at the North New Jersey Affiliate of the Scholastic Art Awards

(Montclair, NJ--January 18, 2019) The North New Jersey affiliate of the Scholastic Art Awards has declared three High Tech students the recipients of Gold and Silver Key awards, as well as Honorable Mentions, announced Dr. Joseph Giammarella, Principal of High Tech High School.

Graphic Arts major Carlos Hernandez, a senior and resident of Jersey City, has earned many Gold Key awards for his photographs, the most important of which he received for his Showcase Portfolio featuring “Sensitivity.”

Fine Arts major and Hoboken resident Charlotte Hysen, a junior, also earned a Gold Key award for “House By A Mountain On A Lake.”

Another junior, Graphic Arts major Brianna Morales of North Bergen, received a Silver Key award for “Namdi.”

Also, both juniors received Honorable Mentions for their photographs.

Gold Key winners represent the very best works submitted to local programs and considered eligible for national–level recognition. Winners have their work displayed from February 17th-March 17th at the Montclair Art Museum.

Silver Key winners comprise stand-out works submitted to local programs. These works demonstrate exceptional ability.

Honorable Mention recipients denote accomplished works submitted to local programs showing great skill and potential.

An award ceremony to recognize these and other winners will be held at the museum on February 28th from 6pm-9pm.
